Effective Coaching
This workshop is designed to assist managers and supervisors on how to be an effective leader when dealing with employee performance issues. The program is designed to give the “how tos” of a coaching discussion. Its focus is on building the manager’s confidence by: giving them a clear understanding of the purpose of the coaching interview, clarifying how all performance problems link to guest satisfaction, reviewing key coaching moments, and giving them specific coaching steps to follow with an employee to gain agreement for change.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the purpose of the coaching discussion
- Learn to determine when discipline is appropriate
- Clarify the manager’s role in the corrective behavior process
- Learn how to focus on measurable behavior
- How to gain agreement for positive change from the team member
- Learn how to deliver both positive and negative feedback in a constructive manner
- Gain confidence in conducting a positive disciplinary interview
- Self assessment of each participants coaching abilities
- Link the coaching techniques to the organization’s culture, policies & procedures
- Learn by practicing
Methods and focus: High participant involvement, team exercises, breakouts, and role-playing. This program will challenge the participants to practice the skills learned. They will be required to demonstrate the communication techniques learned by discussing specific performance scenarios. All exercises will be relevant and realistic to employee situations with opportunities to practice the skills and demonstrate the culture and core values of organization.
